What's Your Voting Obligation?
Our founders debated leaving the constitution in the hands of the people fearing voters would fail to properly fail to protect it. Alexander Hamilton, arguing against the "general will" referred to the masses as "turbulent and changing" where they "seldom judge or determine right." His reasoning, while perhaps a bit condenscending, reflected his fear that people's self indulgences would outweigh their commitment to our nation's constitution and longevity.
Culture of Serfdom
Your elected leaders insult your intelligence labeling you commoners, average citizens, or the "chattering class." So, are they right? Yes and no. The "get" culture grows and is naturally predisposed to vote for incumbants or politicians who promise free handouts - a nifty, powerful form of bribery. Those who desire less government find themselves at odds with most politicians, Republican or Democrat, since both parties court the "gets."
Maybe the time has come to re-evaluate how and for whom you vote. If you demand lesser government and greater individual liberty then vote for someone committed to your concepts rather than voting for your party out of fears a third party candidate is a wasted vote.
Indeed, your vote is "wasted" when you vote for a candidate who isn't going to represent your interests once in office.
Two Party Control
In the past our two party system has represented alternative interests quite well, but what happens if both parties share the same general objectives? Voters must decide what they value more - liberty and our constitution - or their political party.

| THE STATE DIVIDES TO CONQUER
|
ENVIRONMENTALIST CULTURE DISDAINS OUR SYSTEM |
Class Warfare Wreaks Havoc
Do you dislike people because they make more money than you or because they're more successful than you? Probably not. Do you vote that way? Possibly. According to the IRS, almost 50% of workers pay 100% of income taxes. This inbalanced tax structure creates dependency on the State and polarizes people against each other, threatening our societal stability as takers feed more off the taken.
Pop Culture Isn't About Hollywood
Politically speaking, popular culture doesn't mean one listens to pop music and watches movies relentlessly; rather, it's a particular type of voter who fancies what they can "get" from the government. Presidents who identify themselves populists focus on what they can "give" to their voters - at somebody elses expense, of course. This fractures society and evaporates individual liberties.
Using the State to Resolve Everyday Problems
Americans fight with each other over countless issues and increasingly we look to the State to enforce our will over each other. Need some examples? Do you call your neighbor to request they rachet down the noise or do you call the police? If your neighbor's property is reprehensibly cluttered, do you speak with them directly or call the local ordinance people? Do you call the animal control dept when your neighbor's dog escapes or do you address your concerns directly? Do you ask your neighbor to extinguish their burn pile or call the local fire dept to do your work for you?
Imposing Our Will At The Expense of Liberty
Deep divides have opened between many factions of our society ranging from class and race gaps to religious and lifestyle conflicts. We're left, we're right. We're gay, we're straight. We're black, we're white. We're christian, we're atheist. We're pro-life, we're pro-choice. How we choose to identify ourselves is fine except for one problem... each group attempts to use the State to impose its will over the other. In the end, individual liberty must trump your desire to enforce your viewpoint over your neighbor, otherwise our road leads to totalitarianism.
A Special Note About Abortion
For both sides abortion centers about liberty. On one side, people seek the right to choose; on the other, people seek to preserve the liberty of the unborn... not an easy topic to resolve. In addition to using the supreme court to create defacto legislation, absolutists on both sides imperil liberty for both the living and the unborn, a subject we will address in great detail later this fall. |
Rendering Property Worthless
Have you ever been faced with a Traffic Impact Study, forced to conduct an Environmental Impact Study, or uncovered a "threatened" species on your land? Good luck if you encounter any one of the three
Anti Capitalists
Did you know that Greenpeace views the lightbulb as a "hazardous product to everyone" and finds Philips Electronics a "climate criminal?" Are you a climate felon for driving your car, using Windex, packing your leftovers in Tupperware, or for taking advantage of any other life enhancing product we enjoy today?
Oppose Free Choice
Sticking with the lightbulb as an example... since most people buy incandencent bulbs over institutional-like florescents enviros successfully lobbied congress to outlaw Edison's invention, commensing 2012. Expect these choice eliminating tactics to continue over the coming years.
