DEMOCRACY WE'RE NOT
Limits on Democracy
Pure democracy crushes independence as the majority always overrules the individual. Our constitution carefully sets out to protect the rights of the individual from mobrule, collectivism, and the 'general will.' Confusion as to our representative structure is not new, evidenced by James Madison's observation: "The error...seems to owe its rise and prevelance to the confounding of a republic with a democracy... A democracy... will be confined to a small spot. A republic may be extended over a large region."

John Adams offered an alternative point of view proclaiming, "there never was a democracy that did not commit suicide."

The Road To Conflict
Pure democracies invariably fail, eventually ending up in the waste-heap of totalitariasm, dictatorships, breakaway states, or revolution. This fact, while delusionally rebuffed by those wishing for a utopian society, isn't necessarily difficult to understand.

Think about it for a moment...The majority of our population lives in fewer than 10 states sharing very little in common with the other 40. If the majority always ruled all the time 10 states would determine every law, every president and every regulation. Over time, as the 10 states imposed their will on the other 40, tensions would mount until something changed - most likely conflict or separation.

Our representative system ingeniously provides a federal framework designed to protect the sovereignty of each state and its citizens, leaving democracy to be practiced at local levels to account for regional interests. Unfortunately, this striking benefit is under direct attack by Washington DC politicians.
THE PURPOSE OF THE CONSTITUTION
    HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Natural Law
Our country's founders established a moral nation, meaning that our right to "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" was not granted to us by the State, but by your "Creator" under the "Laws of Nature and Nature's God." Our founders indentified this bedrock principle to protect each one of us from succumbing to State rule.

Ask yourself a question... is your "creator" the State? Of course not. Your creator is Nature or God or Allah or whatever or whomever you believe it to be. The members of the Second Continental Congress recognized a need to clearly distinguish from where rights are derived, rejecting state rule in favor of establishing a government subserviant to the people - not the other way around.

Protecting Liberty
In 1790 President George Washington proclaimed that "the Constitution of The United States, and the laws made under it, must mark the line of my official conduct." Contrast our first president's code of conduct to our current sitting president who complained recently that The Constitution's rights are "negatively defined" and don't permit him to do enough. This increasingly common viewpoint by a wide range of policitians puts your independence from government overbearance at direct risk

The Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution both set out to preserve individual liberty, ushering in a new era of personal and economic freedom for millions of people from all walks of life from every corner of the globe. Indeed, America's allure as a beacon of hope for those seeking personal independence shines as brightly today as it did in the early 1900s as millions more continue to immigrate here at great cost and risk to their personal well-being.

Republican Government Consented By The People
The US Constitution declares our government Republican in form, specifically, a federal republic instead of a national republic. James Madison well explained in Federalist Paper 39 that "Each State, in ratifying the Constitution, is considered as a sovereign body, independent of all others, and only to be bound by its own voluntary act. In this relation, then, the new constitution will, if established, be a federal, and not a national constitution."*

Why did our founders decide on a federal government over a national government? National governments centralize authority while OUR federal government was designed to keep control at the local level - clearly, this concept is under direct attack unlike any time in our modern history.
